Square Foot Gardening for the Red River Valley is looking to partner with local Nursing Homes, Assisted Living Facilities, Senior Housing Communities, and local daycare providers to sponsor a Square Foot Garden (SFG). “To plant a garden, is to believe in tomorrow.” What better way than to set expectations for tomorrow than to plant and nurture a garden. Each new day in a garden brings new and exciting growth and changes. Tending a garden can provide a calm and relaxing place to contemplate the joys of life and nature. In the Bible, we find in Genesis that life began in a garden, a truly wonderful garden. Although we can no longer enjoy that first garden God has provided a way for us to have a sample of what life was like to be in the garden.
What better way to get closer to God and all of his goodness than to garden. Gardening has been a means of suppling food for our existence ever since the first seed was planted many thousands of years ago. Gardening has also meant work, but with Square Foot Gardening, it is possible to eliminate so much of the unpleasant work that goes along with tending a traditional garden. With spring soon arriving, I want to extend an invitation for your facility to have access to a Square Foot Garden. In exchange for allowing us to place a 3 foot by 3 foot elevated Square Foot Garden at your facility, we will provide an introduction to the method of Square Foot Gardening, the tools and assistance to maintain the SFG, and ongoing classes that pertain to the care and maintenance of a SFG. The clients of your organization will have the opportunity to get hands on opportunities working in the SFG and will also have the chance to enjoy the fruits of their labor. Even if you would choose not to place a garden, we would love to come to your facility and give a presentation on Square Foot Gardening and its benefits of providing healthy, nutritious, organic, and wholesome produce to the gardener.
If you decide that SFG is a viable activity for your facility and clients you will have the option to purchase additional SFG’s at a discounted rate and still get the same service from Square Foot Gardening of the Red River Valley as you would with the original garden at no additional cost. All that we ask in return is that Square Foot Gardening for the Red River Valley be allowed to place an advertising sign and some brochures providing information on our group and our upcoming activities.
