Hello Spring?

Well, today is March 17th, Happy St Patrick's Day. We here in the Red River Valley of the North have been teased with nice weather and the spring itch has been scratched. Today, reality reared its ugly head and let us know once again that Mother Nature rules all. We have 30 degrees and snow. Some of the people I have been visiting with are concerned that the apple trees have budded and this cold weather will set them back. Just last year I planted a couple of apple trees and have been training them on an espalier with hope of getting a crop sooner than later. I guess I will have to wait and see. But, on the other hand, we know that winter won't last here for another 6 months al least. We are closer to summer than we think, we just need to be patient.
